Automatic Oxygen Index Tester Routine Maintenance and Troubleshooting

The automatic oxygen index tester is a precision testing instrument. Its testing accuracy and service life depend on scientific and standardized routine maintenance. Long‑term operation is susceptible to dust, residual combustion gas, impurities from gas sources, ambient temperature and humidity, which may lead to data deviation and abnormal operation. Proper routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting can effectively ensure stable equipment operation, reduce testing errors, extend service life, and support regular laboratory testing activities.

Routine basic maintenance covers regular cleaning and periodic calibration. Upon completion of each test, promptly clear ash and residual debris inside the combustion cylinder, wipe off stains on the cylinder wall to keep the interior clean. This prevents residues from interfering with subsequent combustion observation and air flow. Regularly inspect gas pipelines and connectors for air leakage or blockage, and clean impurities in the gas source filter to avoid contamination entering the flow controller and impairing accuracy. Meanwhile, keep the laboratory dry and well‑ventilated at approximately 23 °C. High‑temperature and humid conditions shall be avoided to prevent damage to circuits and sensors. In addition, calibrate oxygen concentration and flow accuracy quarterly to guarantee compliant and reliable test data.

Common simple faults can be diagnosed and resolved quickly. First, excessive data fluctuation, usually caused by unstable gas flow, pipeline leakage or dusty sensors. Check pipeline tightness, clean sensor dust, and recalibrate flow parameters. Second, ignition failure, mostly resulting from carbon deposits or position offset of the ignition electrode. Clean the ignition electrode and fine‑tune its position for normal operation. Third, failure to power on, generally due to poor power contact or loose wiring. Inspect power cables and restart the unit.

For long‑term idle storage, evacuate residual gas inside pipelines, clean the whole unit and seal it with dust‑proof protection. Arrange comprehensive annual maintenance by qualified personnel to inspect component wear and replace aging parts. Standardized maintenance maximizes stable performance, lowers failure risk and cuts operating costs.

Model YZS‑8A Automatic Touch‑Screen Oxygen Index Tester (Intelligent Version)

Developed and manufactured by Beijing Xinsheng Zhuorui Technology Co., Ltd. and Xunyu Technology Co., Ltd., this automatic oxygen index tester evaluates material flame retardancy. It measures the minimum oxygen concentration required to sustain specimen combustion within specified test conditions under mixed oxygen‑nitrogen atmosphere. It applies to combustion‑performance testing of plastics, rubber, electrical conduits, fibers, foamed plastics, sheets, films, textiles and other materials.

Advantages of Intelligent Automatic Touch‑Screen Controlled Oxygen Index Tester

Equipped with a full‑color touch screen. Simply set the oxygen concentration value on the touch panel; the program automatically adjusts to reach oxygen‑concentration equilibrium and gives a beep alert. Manual oxygen‑concentration adjustment is no longer required.

Stepper proportional valves are adopted to greatly improve flow‑control accuracy with closed‑loop control. If oxygen‑concentration drift occurs during testing, the program automatically corrects it back to the target value. This overcomes the limitation of conventional oxygen index testers that cannot adjust oxygen concentration mid‑test, and substantially enhances measurement accuracy.
